Dr. Metlzer received his training on modern adult hip replacement from Dr. John Charnley, the father of total hip replacement. He received his B.S. Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, where he was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honorary Fraternity, and his M.D. from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honorary Fraternity. Dr. Meltzer completed his Internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and a Residency, Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago.

 

Dr. Meltzer then accepted a fellowship in Orthopaedic Rehabilitation at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California and at the University of California at San Francisco. He is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago. And he is the Associate Chairman in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr, Meltzer is Board Certified in Orthpaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Illinois Orthopaedic Association, American Medical Association, Chicago Medical Society, and Illinois State Medical Society. He has served as an examiner of candidates for certification by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a past Editor of Orthopaedic Volumes of Lewis’s Practice of Surgery. He sees patients at Highland Park Hospital, Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago, and Rush Shore Medical Center.

Dr. Meltzer and his wife Lorraine reside in Highland Park.
