Dr. Bruce Hamming was born ands raised in Rock Island, Illinois, where he attended Augustana College, becoming an All-American basketball player and Phi Beta Kappa. He received a B.A. in Pre-Med in 1975, achieving the status of Valedictorian and earning an Award of Lincoln from the State of Illinois. He then earned an M.D. from the University of Illinois in Chicago in 1979.


 

After completing his internship and orthopaedic residency at Northwestern University Hospitals and serving as Chief Resident for Orthopaedic Surgery at Lakeside VA Research Hospital, he joined our practice in 1984. He was Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery in 1986 and Recertified in 1995.

Dr. Hamming serves on the board of the Great Lakes Adaptive Sports Association. He is a member of the Lake County Medical Society and the American Academy of Orthpaedic Surgeons. And, he practices General Orthopaedics, Adult Reconstruction from Trauma, and Sports Medicine.

He and his wife, Mary, have two children, Brian and Carl.
